One of my favorite places to relax is the patio.  One of the things that makes it so relaxing is the gentle music of the windchimes.

Bunco - 80s

The scariest thing about these photos?  No alcohol was involved!

Corner View - Silly

This week I over-compensated for cheating last week by using clip art.
Silly things I love in Orlando:
"The General" - a 7' statue in our office:   He doesn't look particularly silly here, but he is our office mascot and we dress him up for holidays.  Last Halloween, he was Raggedy Ann.  (I wish I had a photo of that - the red braids suited him.)  He is Santa Claus every year and was a leprechaun last year for St. Paddy's Day.

The bronze alligators outside the Orange County Regional History Center:  I just adore these guys. I often have a picnic lunch at this park.  There are several statues. Each is unique and quite detailed and just plain fun.

The swan paddle boats on Lake Eola in downtown Orlando:  They are just so silly, but don't they make you smile?
My Bunco Group:  A wonderfully silly group - we get together once a month to play Bunco, gossip and eat.  (We do more of the latter two than then first one.)  Each month the host (there are 12 of us so we each host once a year) picks a theme and we dress up.  This was mine last year when it was Halloween.  (Didn't really need a theme for that one, I got off easy!)  We play this Friday and the theme is the 80s.  Bring on the big hair!

Here are some personal silly things I love:

My pig statue with the bird legs.

My pink, fuzzy, striped socks... hmm, when I see them paired with my monkey pants, I know why I'm single :-)

My lady bug lamp.

I spy with my little eye - Kres Chophouse, which is a restaurant in the historic Kres building in downtown Orlando.  (Historic in American terms, at least :-) )

Poker Run

Yesterday was our annual "Bikers Gone Wild" poker run fundraiser for Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge.  Attendance was down, mainly due the economy as it is $30 per person, but we still did well and made quite a bit money for the animals.  We were lucky that many of our supporters came to the end party to make donations even if they couldn't afford to participate in the ride.

Okay, I cheated as I don't have any photos of him and was too lazy to drive to Disney World to get a photo... Anyhow, below is Orlando's most "iconic" resident.

A special "hello" to the Four (Flow) Tops and GE Light.  I can't comment on your blogs, but I try EVERY week :-)

ps  Please keep those fingers and toes crossed re the new job.  I should know something by the end of the week.

pps If anyone with a google blog can tell me how to respond to comments, I would be grateful.

April Showers

April showers bring May flowers, but apparently September showers bring bullfrogs.

This is the biggest one I've seen in my entranceway.  You can't really tell from the photo, but his torso is about 5" long and he is about 3" wide.

Aside from the obvious items needed to live - food (esp Thai food), water (esp tonic with a splash of gin) and oxygen - books are indispensable to me.  And by books, I mean real, paper and ink BOOKS.  Old School books. Not ebooks.  Nothing that involves a Kindle, Nook or other electrconic device.  Real books.  Books that you can hold, smell, write in, highlight...

And coming from a family of readers and book sharers, years ago we started signing the books after we read them so we'd know who was next on the rotation.  Now, when anyone reads one of my books, I make them sign it.  It's nice to pull a book off the shelf and see the name of an old friend or family member.  Having moved a lot in my life, it is often a sentimental reminder of certain time and place in my life.  Sometimes I'll pull a book off the shelf and see my late Aunt Madeline's tiny scrawl or my late Aunt Shirley's flowery signature and I smile, feeling connected to them by holding something they once held.

I spy with my little eye a (West) Indian.  This is my friend, Roxanne, who is West Indian and graciously agreed to be my I spy for the letter I.  (Plus, it gave us an excuse to get together for a cup tea and some gossip.)
